Notes

Cladi (plural, singular cladus, from ancient Greek: κλάδος, klados, “branch”): in botany, Branches that together form the cladom. Cladus also denotes a group in nature which consists of a common ancestor and all of his direct descendants.

The title of this work describes the structure and work process. There is a simple melodic line to the piece in the high register that is based on experiments with different algorithms. I wanted to make only the basic decisions about register, character, pitch and amplitude etc., but leave other details to chance. My goal was to produce a “found object” that would stimulate my creativity in the next step. So I reacted freely and intuitively: I looked for connections, networks, clarifications, and added new layers or erased material.

The creation process reminded me of the growth of branches – hence the title.
