Details

Out of hushed expanses of trills and tremolos, as if brought about by the brush of a Chinese calligrapher, splashes of ink break the primordial homogeneity of the silk-scroll to congeal transiently into interweaving melodic lines. Perhaps when Skryabin expounded that his Tenth Sonata was a sonata of insects, ... 'insects are born from the sun... they are the sun's kisses...' he was alluding to the primordial ground out of which manifestation ineffably arises.

Commissioned by Ivo Varbanov and Fiammetta Tarli. Premiered on the 10th June 2016 (St John's Smith Square, London) and the 15th June 2016 (St George's, Bristol) as part of the ICSM Records - The Artist Live, UK Tour.
