of gold and shadows was commissioned by the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group through its Sound Investment Scheme and financial assistance from Arts Council England West Midlands.

The first performance was given by the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group conducted by Oliver Knussen on 25 September 2011. A video with excerpts from the rehearsal by the BCMG can be seen below, along with an interview with Silvina Milstein discussing the piece.

of gold and shadows has been recorded by Lontano conducted by Odaline de la Martinez and will be released by LORELT in 2016.
