First performed in the Neresheim Abbey Church, Germany, on 6th September 2000 by the Royal Academy of Music Chamber Choir, directed by Patrick Russil, who commissioned the piece for the occasion.

The church is noted for it’s extremely long reverberation period – approximately 6″. The piece is consequently written with a very resonant acoustic in mind and should not be performed in an acoustic with less than a 2′ reverberation period.
