Notes

Night Suite for Piano Trio (2014) follows a rich musical tradition that depicts the nighttime: the night sky in Prelude, the night dances and songs in Blues, and the sleep and dreams in Lullaby. The Lullaby is a set of variations on a gently breathing, rocking Sarabande rhythm. The folk melody that eventually appears in the violin is a fantasy on a lullaby my grandmother sang to me as a child, juxtaposed with hypnotic spectral harmonies.

The first performance was given by the Linos Piano Trio (Konrad Elias-Trostmann – Violin, Vladimir Waltham – Cello, Prach Boondiskulchok – Piano) on 13 March 2014.
