Notes

Shattered Spectra is built around the exploration of fusing right and left-hand note production techniques. The left-hand pizzicato on the open strings is at the core of this idea. The piece uses the pitches of the open strings as both a structural device and harmonic pivot points. The G string is a focal point throughout, both opening the piece and returning to it in various guises many times over. The title alludes to the fracturing of these aural spectra to leave the shards to fall juxtaposed throughout the work.
