The plainsong lullaby of the medieval nuns of Chester is placed in a harmonically simple setting, using only the notes present in the melody.  The undulating texture and rhythms of the choral and organ accompaniments evoke the rocking of a cradle. This was composed for the Chester Bach Singers, directed by the composer for over thirty years.
