Notes

Chameleon is a gradually changing musical metamorphosis which starts as a lyrical melody and becomes increasingly intense and irregular in rhythm, pitch and tempo, ending with a throwaway transformation in the last few bars.

The piece was written as a musical tribute to Henri Dutilleux as part of a presentation volume consisting of short original pieces by staff and students of Cardiff University, on the occasion of his being awarded an Honarary Fellowship by the University during a weekend festival ‘Discovering Dutilleux’, February 15-17 2008.
