Double games was written in 1989 and consists of ten short pieces initially thought of an educational nature. Each piece is based on a specific image, dance, musical character and piano technique. Double games may be played as a complete cycle, and each piece may also be performed separately.
Despite the tonal nature of all the pieces, key signatures have been deliberately omitted. Where no dynamics are marked, the pianists should use dynamics intuitively. Where no pedalling is marked, the pianists should use colour pedalling freely. The chord tremoli in pieces no.2 (the clown) and 6 (blues) should be played freely and in relation to the nature of the music.
