Notes

Voci is a composition in which compositional techniques borrowed from the numerous studies and specific research carried out by the composer, primarily on phonetics, merge. The distinctive feature of this composition is the various musical parameters derived and organized following two technical processes present in electronic music, that is additive synthesis and subtractive synthesis. To achieve this, deep research and numerous studies have been carried out, whose core was the analysis of the spectrum of vocal sound, be it sung or spoken. A series of computers have analysed in great detail all the parameters contained in each human voice. While creating the piece, in particular, the different forming agents present in the human voice of some popular singers were studied and analyzed, with the help of sophisticated electronic programs. In parallel, a careful investigation of the technical and expressive possibilities of each instrument of the saxophone family took place, focusing especially on the production of harmonic and multiphonic sounds. From a formal and dialectical point of view, the structure of the composition is thus derived from all these analyses. It may be said that Voci is a composition in which the author has sought sonorities present in concrete music through a chiseled compositional work, adding to them, however, an expressive and communicative force.
