Admar is a composition commissioned to Daniele Venturi by the Roger Shapiro Foundation for New Music in Washington and specially written for The Bowers Fader Duo.

Even in this piece the composer proceeds in his work of strong musical experimentation, reaching moments of great lyricism through a remarkable and chiseled (meticulous) work on writing.

The composition uses the original poetic text in Japanese, written by one of the fathers of the Haiku form: Matsuo Bashō (1644-1694). The noticeably short text is also of great significance and poignant lyricism: “Fiery red sun, merciless, is already the autumn wind.”

In the musical writing entrusted to the voice of the mezzo-soprano there is a strong use of expressive glissandi, clearly in the madrigal style. They contrast with the very detailed and at times punctual writing entrusted to the guitar in which there is a strong use of natural harmonics and sounds produced on empty strings.

The guitar is thus timbrically transfigured through a changing writing more or less quickly, in relation and in symbiosis with the changing climate and plot of the poetic text itself.

Poetic text by Matsuo Bashō. Commissioned by “Roger Shapiro Fund for New Music” – Washington, for the Bower Fader Duo.
