Scordatura Squid II is a sequel to my earlier Scordatura Squid (henceforth to be known as Scordatura Squid I), also for solo violin. It may form a companion piece to this work; or the two pieces may be performed separately.

Scordatura Squid II takes as its inspiration the Vampire Squid from Hell (Vampyroteuthis infernalis). This bizarre organism, found in the extreme depths of the oceans, is the only know link between the squid and octopus families. It is the second piece of mine to take its inspiration from this weird animal; so I suppose the present work could equally be called Vampire Squid from Hell II.
